The Portland Society of Magicians is the oldest established magic club west of the Mississippi. Our journey began on October 6, 1922 when a group of local magicians formed the club to promote magic throughout the Northwest . They called this group Portland Magical Society. A decade later on August 3, 1933 the name was officially changed to Portland Society of Magicians. We consist of people from all walks of life and skill sets. The spectrum of magic ranges from those just starting out in the art to some of the best working professionals in the area. The only thing we all have in common is the love of the magic. We are committed to spreading the gift of wonder and amazement throughout our families and communities. We are open to any one wanting to learn incredible magic and also make some wonderful friends.
We meet on the second Saturday of every month (beware, we do take the summer months off) at the Oregon Stamp Society at 4828 NE 33rd Ave, Portland, OR 97211. Our meetings start at 7:00 PM. We begin each meeting with quick announcements and then we either typically host a lecture or take turns teaching tricks. After food (provided) we do some practicing, and finally end the night with Show Time at 9:00 PM. This is a chance for anyone that would like to perform for the group. All guests are welcome, regardless of ability. Whether you are a hobbyist or a pro, there is always something to learn and teach at every meeting. Come be part of the Northwest magic scene!
