Firefighters rushed to the Magic Castle in Hollywood Tuesday after a fire broke out in the attic, prompting evacuations and disrupting celebrations at the iconic venue.

Smoke was seen billowing from the building around 5:30 p.m. as the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the 7000 block of Franklin Avenue.

Fire officials said crews believe the fire started in an area where work was being done on the roof.

“Actually, in the attic space on the third floor. There were also occupants that were enjoying their evening here at the Magic Castle that we evacuated safely,” LAFD Battalion Chief Ken Cook said.
